Selena Quintanilla was a Mexican-American Singer

 Selena Quintanilla was a Mexican-American singer who rose to fame in the early 1990s. She was known for her soulful voice and catchy pop songs, and she quickly became one of the most popular Latin artists in the world. Selena was tragically murdered at the age of 23, but her music continues to live on and inspire fans around the globe.


Selena Quintanilla was born in Lake Jackson, Texas on April 16, 1971. She grew up surrounded by music; her father played the guitar and her mother sang traditional Mexican folk songs. Selena began performing with her family's band, Los Dinos when she was just nine years old. The group soon became a local sensation in their hometown of Corpus Christi.

In 1987, Selena signed with EMI Latin Records and released her debut album,. The album spawned several hit singles including "La Llamada" and "Como La Flor." Selena's popularity continued to grow throughout the early 1990s as she released more successful albums and embarked on sold-out tours across Mexico and South America. In 1994, she won a Grammy Award for Best Mexican/American Album for Live!.  On March 31st 1995 tragedy struck when Selenas' life ended abruptly at age 23 due to being fatally shot by Yolanda saldívar, the former president of the fan club. Although gone too soon, her memory lives through not only family members but also fans all over who keep the legacy going.
